Abstract

An ornamental plant is that that is cultivated and it is marketed with ornamental purposes by its aesthetic characteristics, as the flowers, leaves, perfume, the texture of its foliage, fruits or shafts in gardens and designs landscape, like interior plant or it stops cut flower. Certain trees are also considered ornamental when they are used like part of a garden or a landscape project. The species Thespesia populnea (L.) Soland known as majagua of the florid one belongs to the family Malvaceae. It is a plant of forest interest that you can use in constructions, mischievous, charts and furniture. It is distributed in low next lands to the costs in all Cuba, the rest of Antilles, Florida and other tropical areas. The developed experiments approach they are focused in this arboreal ornamental species and their perspectives in Municipality Pinegrove of the River. Seeds of Thespesia populnea were used; they underwent treatments pregerminativos to analyze the germination percent, quality and weight. The results showed that it is feasible of obtaining in nursery the species Thespesia populnea, presenting a percent of germination of the 70 of seeds without treatment and applying the immersion treatment in hot water during 10 seconds 95 percent of seeds.
