Abstract

The anatomical types of needle of Pinuscaribaea var. caribaeawere defined from sample of six localities. 15 individuals' samples were collected. The resin ducts were continuous throughout the needle and there were not differences for the position and type in same location. The specie showed variation in the 19 variables measures but not for the duct type, that was endonal. We defined three types and two subtypes for this species considering to the variables of the parenquima. From this analysis, two groups were visible corresponding to extreme condition: Sabanalamar, San Juan and the rest. The species has pattern of adaptations at anatomic level.
