Abstract

The paper identifies the secondary metabolites present in 7 species of forestry interest as: Caesalpinia violacea, Taliparitis elatum, Bursera simaruba, Peltophorum adnatum, Gerascantus gerascantoide, Pinus caribaea var. Barrett and Golfari caribaea and Tectona grandis. Samples from three Integrated Forest Enterprises: Pinar del Rio, Guahanacabibes Macurijes and as a result of a random sampling of 40 trees were selected mass to which the foliage will take different parts of the cup, which was subjected to different chemical assays in both aqueous and ethanolic extract to determine the following metabolites: alkaloids, coumarins, saponins, reducing carbohydrates, flavonoids, phenols, tannins, catechins, ninhydrin and mucilage. It also performs an ethnobotanical study to assess the knowledge of specialists in relation to the possible use of the foliage of these species, which is a source of income for the forest economy of this company. The result obtained showed the variability of chemical compounds in each plant.
