Abstract

Environmental education is a priority in the general training of students. The University as the responsible institution for the creation and socialization of science and the students’ role as fundamental activists of this action, cannot remain on the sidelines. Pedagogical training careers have a value and impact on the formation of personality and with this an opportunity in environmental education. This article aims at the socialization of a group of activists from the Department of Foreign Languages in order to raise awareness of the university personal and its neighboring communities, from an English language teaching approach. In an initial stage of diagnosis and elaboration of strategies, theoretical methods such as Analysis-synthesis, Systemic, Hypothetical-deductive, Observation, Measurement were used; empirical methods such as documentary analysis, the survey, the interview and statistical-mathematical. The group, supported by both the Department and the Faculty, has guaranteed the application of instruments to diagnose the current state of environmental awareness and outline the work lines. Based on the results obtained, the first training of the activists was carried out and the first lecture is scheduled. Several work presentations were made in the 1st Environment Workshop of the Department. Environmental education is the research subject of the Term Paper and Diploma for two of its activists.

Estudiante de primer año de la carrera Educación Lenguas Extranjeras en la Universidad de Pinar del Río “Hermanos Saíz Montes de Oca”. Activista de la FEU y presidente de brigada. Miembro del proyecto de investigación “Creación de una nueva cultura del aprendizaje de lenguas”. Participó en Modelo de ONUPINAR 2019.
