Abstract

There are different ways of conceiving a production chain and its operation is defined as a subsystem of agribusiness, which would consist of a set of interactive components, including production systems, suppliers of inputs and services, processors and processors, agents distribution, storage, marketing and final consumers. The work was conducted according to the methodology for the diagnosis of productive chains adapting to the charcoal, it comprises of the general characterization of the production chain, the supply chain modeling, analysis of inputs and outputs, analysis material flows and capital, analysis of internal processes in segments of the production chain and identification and prioritization of critical factors. The study to companies producing charcoal was delimited in the province Pinar del Rio. It was found that segmentation chain is incomplete, efficiency; quality and equity are evaluated to reduce impacts and provide the competitiveness and sustainability of the chain. The critical factors affecting the performance of the same were identified. The environmental cost calculated for the companies amounts to $ 659 036, 00 in the production of charcoal. The charcoal production chain serves as the basis of study and to define strategies for all industry segments.
