Abstract

The work was carried out from November 2015 to June 2016 in the hydroregulating banks of the Jaibo River, belonging to the Guantánamo-Guaso Hydrographic Basin, sub-account of the Jaibo River, with the aim of preparing a recovery proposal. The data were taken in an area with an area of 2 048.3 Km2. 25 plots of the right side and 25 plots of the left side of 20 x 25 m (500 m2), randomly distributed in the study area, were raised, the size of the sample was validated by the area - species curve. The characterization of diversity of floristic species was determined from the study of alpha diversity (α), where elements of the horizontal and vertical structure (value index of ecological importance [IVIE] and beta diversity (β) were evaluated through A total of 8 families, 986 individuals and 25 woody species corresponding to the herbaceous, arboreal and shrub layer were identified, with the richest species being Polygonaceae with 354 individuals, the most abundant species was Coccoloba retusa, the species The most dominant species were Samanea saman and Leucaena leucocephala, and six actions were proposed in the short and medium term, in order to minimize the main causes that affect the degradation of the hydroregulating banks of the Jaibo River.
