Structural characterization of forest semideciduous mesophyll belonging to the ecological reserve "Sierra la Güira", of the municipality of Los Palacios
Main Article Content
Abstract
The structure was characterized in 12 sampling units 0, 01 hectares, determined randomly 3.24 has mesophyll semideciduous forest "Sierra's Güira" Ecological Reserve. Dasometric variables of all individuals with d1.30 ≥ 5 cm were recorded. All the species found were identified; for characterizing species classification and biological types size and texture of the leaves was used. The composition of the vegetation by producing a histogram of frequency and heterogeneity of the forest through the blend ratio was determined. The horizontal structure was evaluated by determining the values of abundance, dominance and relative frequency of each species, members of the index value ecologically important structural elements. As a result we identified 30 species belonging to 23 families of angiosperms, being the dominant families Meliaceae and Sapindaceae, two families of timber importance of Cuban flora, which highlights the value of forest timber. There was a predominance of micro-mesofanerofitas, species indicating an abundant shrub layer and forest growth. The semideciduous forest presented a heterogeneous structure determined by a set of typical species (Roystonea regia, Bursera simaruba, Matayba apetala and Guarea guidonia) which revealed the biggest ecological weight in vegetation, mostly to present larger diameters that mark their dominance in the same.
