Abstract

The mangrove swamps: fragile and at the same time productive ecosystems of the tropical and subtropical areas of the planet, they have been significantly affected in the last times by diverse causes that have caused changes in their original structure. The present investigation was carried out in three swamp sectors (one conserved, another with certain degree of deterioration and one near to the community) of the protected area San Ubaldo, Sabanalamar of the region southwest of Pinar del Río, with the objective of identifying the environmental variables that are causing changes in its structure. For they were inventoried it 12 parcels of 100 m2 in those that structural variables were characterized that by means of the Biodiversity Pro, they allowed the determination of the index of value of ecological importance for the sum of the parameters of the horizontal structure: Relative abundance, relative Frequency and relative dominants and the vertical structure for flight classes according to height and other parameters; besides variable for analysis of floor of the three sectors, as well as other physical variables.
