Influence of forest management in the wood density of Pinus caribaea Morelet var. Caribaea Barret and Golfari in the EFI Macurijes
Main Article Content
Abstract
The research was conducted in the plantation forest estate of Pinus caribaea Morelet var. caribaea Barrett and Golfari in Macurije Integral Forest Enterprise, in the province of Pinar del Rio, Cuba, in order to determine the influence of forest management on wood density of Pinus caribaea Morelet var. caribaea Barrett and Golfari. Were selected mature stands with different thinning intensities in which trees were taken 3 sociological status, a dominant codominant and oppressed of 5 permanent plots, for a total of 15 trees, which were cut down, marking the section 1.30 m, and obtained by cutting a disc of 5 cm in thickness for a total of 15 disks, from which the data was extracted for analysis of density of the wood using the procedure for the multi-slice CT scanner, which processed and submitted to statistical tests using SPSS 15.0 software for Windows version 15.02.
The result was that management has no influence on the density of Pinus caribaea morelet var. caribaea Barrett and Golfari.
