Evaluation of the germination and initial growth of Simarouba glauca DC. in organic substrates

Abstract

The experiment was carried out in the nursery belonged to the Laboratory of the Pinar del Río University "Hermanos Saíz Montes de Oca". The study was carried out to evaluate influence of the growing media used in the quality of Simarouba glauca DC. Seedlings. The growing media used was compound for the following mixtures: S1-Humus of Worm to 55% more biocompost to 25% more cortex of pine to 20%. S2- Humus of Worm to 30% more biocompost to 50% more cortex of pine to 20%. S3- Humus of Worm to 45% more biocompost to 45% more cortex of pine to 10%. The container that was used to sowing of the seeds is of conical container type with a capacity of 100 ml. The germination of the seeds was evaluated. They were carried out three controls of quality to the experiment 1 phase to the 54 days of established the sowing and both remaining they were carried out every 16 days, and it was analyzed the behavior of the morphological parameters and their indexes. It concludes that the growing medium S1 was the one that better it integrates the different parameters of the plant quality.
